Rioja Alavesa

Visiting wineries in Rioja Alavesa takes us to the smallest area of the region, which extends a little over 300 square kilometres in the south of the Alava province, on the north bank of the river Ebro. It’s predominantly situated on calcareous clay soils with hillsides and small plots, twinned with a sunny and dry Atlantic climate.

It is made up of 18 municipalities of incomparable beauty offering all kinds of wine tourism, present in the nature, providing great touristic and economic value to the area. Well-regarded, innovative architecture fuses with historical buildings and wineries that, over time, have managed to make a name for themselves. Anyone who looks up and observes the majesty and splendour of the land made naturally for both the production of young wines and their ageing in barrels is taken aback. Giving the wines their own unique, characteristic aromas, that perfectly represent the values of what Rioja Alavesa is all about.
